Overview of Verbs The Greek verb has five characteristics: tense, voice, mood, person, and number. Tense Tense indicates the time and kind of action of a verb. The time of a tense may be past, present, or future; its action may be linear, simple, or completed. Tense Time Kind Explanation Examples Present Present Linear, progressive, continuous The action is viewed as being in progress. I am studying. Imperfect Past I was studying. Future Future Simple, undefined The action is viewed as a whole.
